Home How We Give

Engagement Expectations

The Thierer Family Foundation funds organizations with which we can build a true partnership in order to help make a significant, long term impact on their organization and their ability to deliver on their mission. In order to do this, we require a certain level of engagement, access and transparency throughout the project life cycle.

ENGAGEMENT EXPECTATIONS

PROJECT ENGAGEMENT

If selected to receive a Technology Grant or an Impact Project Grant, you will work with the Foundation staff to determine what level of engagement between your organization and the Foundation will be required. Depending on project scope and organizational needs, engagement may range from occasional progress update meetings to more extensive planning/workshop sessions to collaborative work with foundation staff and experts from our network.

In addition, the Foundation requires short progress reports throughout the life of the project, a final report at the completion of the project and impact reports at set intervals after the completion of the project. Site visits and/or in-person meetings may be requested from time to time depending on project scope.

CONTENT COLLABORATION

We are proud of our grantees and the work they are doing. As such, the Foundation expects our grantees to collaborate with the Foundation on content (blogs, public relations materials, video, photography…) and/or provide us applicable content from your organization that can be used by the Foundation to showcase project activities and results.

GROWTH PARTNERSHIP

Our goal is to invest in technology projects that will have an increasingly large impact over time by continuing to grow beyond the initial project scope. What that growth looks like will depend on the project, but it could include one or more of the following:

  • Replicating the technology or processes within other organizations
  • Targeting a larger audience
  • Expanding to new geographies
  • Addressing new use cases

With this goal in mind, we expect our grantees to work with the foundation during and beyond the project lifecycle to evaluate opportunities for growth and, depending on the opportunity, either lead, participate or advise in this growth opportunity. If the grantee is not interested or able to take advantage of the opportunity, we expect our grantees to allow the Thierer Family Foundation to leverage the technology and learnings to assist other organizations.
